In 1989 Teletec was awarded a three- year 100 million dollar manufacturing contract by the Iraqi government. Within a short period the Persian Gulf War began and the resulting U.S. Administration policies brought Iraq project operations to a halt. System sales continued to grow rapidly while manufacturing costs continued to rise. In 2007 Teletec concluded development of an AES Digital Subscriber Encryption Module (SEM) for use in analog radios. The Guardian TL-905 provides the attributes of digital voice technology to analog voice without the expense of replacing a radio system or buying digital radios. The Guardian was designed to meet NIST requirements, which transitioned DES implementation and operation to AES in May 2007. The module passed testing by a NIST certified lab in August 2008. Formal FIPS validation by CMVP is expected fourth quarter of 2008. Intentions are to re-enter the manufacturing segment and manufacture the module in North Carolina, however in the interim product will be manufactured by a Teletec partner. Learn more
